The problems may be different but the solutions are often similar, and the mindset required to be an effective careers leader is identical. It’s about having confidence in yourself, knowledge of your learners, engaging critically with frameworks, and (of course) prioritising quality.
When we assess schools for the Quality in Careers Standard or our Career Mark International Award, we know that the needs and barriers of learners are all different. You will need to be creative, engage with remote guidance and remote employer engagement, and network with other careers leads working under a range of conditions. We know how important context is for the development of each learner, but we also know that many learners face the same concerns, fears and desires.
