‘Introducing the ‘tripod approach’ to provide stability for your careers programme’

13th October 2021

Conference Theme:

Summer 2021 saw two significant developments in the careers policy landscape:

  • Ofsted’s School Inspection Handbook for September 2021 (updated 28 June 2021)

  • DfE’s long awaited updated statutory guidance for careers: Careers guidance and Access for Education and Training Providers (updated 15th July 2021)

    Both publications help us to understand key policy priorities including how to document your careers offer that is the Access Policy/Baker Clause and the information shared on websites identifying your careers offer.

    The new statutory guidance has removed the timescale for meeting the Gatsby benchmarks and now expects schools and colleges to ‘use’ the benchmarks to ‘develop careers programmes.’ The guidance also includes broader careers frameworks

  • ‘strongly recommending’ schools and colleges to work towards the Quality in Careers Standard;

  • Referencing the CDI’s new Career Development Framework to support schools and colleges to identify the learning outcomes students achieve as schools meet the Gatsby Benchmarks.

    This no cost conference will provide Careers Leaders with a summary of the updated expectations concentrating specifically on the ‘tripod for successful career development’ including the Gatsby Benchmarks/Compass, the new CDI framework and the Quality in Careers Standard. The conference will consider all career related national policy and practice with a focus on the individual learner.

    Conference speakers will explore each leg of the tripod from a practical perspective of how Careers Leaders are already using the frameworks in their schools and colleges to provide a truly stable careers programme.

    At the conference we will also be launching and giving you free access to our new online careers personality profiling tool that you can use with your learners!

    The conference will run remotely through Zoom, a user-friendly, effective platform. There will be opportunities for interaction and post questions to all as well as regular screen breaks.
