NEW ACADEMIC YEAR – NEW JOB

Author – Julie Reynolds

After providing 1:1 Guidance to students in schools as an Associate with Complete Careers I took up a position as Senior Guidance Adviser in September 2019.

This was a big decision for me as being an Associate meant I decided which of the schools I worked in and the amount of work I undertook.  Over the past 3 academic years I have been delivering guidance I have seen more schools coming on board and with use of the Gatsby benchmarks it gives our service something to work on with schools to help their students to access 1:1 guidance support. Having had a mainly managerial role through LCC for careers it was surprising good to go back to face to face work with students.

Supporting associates in their relevant schools plus delivering myself, sounded easy, now I am doing it I realise that it is quite a balancing act. It is quite a challenge to deliver in 5 schools and help and support Associates in others, on 3 days a week, however I feel that I am getting there.

Since starting my role as Senior Guidance Adviser I have:

  • Contributed to securing new schools for guidance support
  • Produced new contracts for all guidance schools
  • Introduced an effective system for schools to check the DBS status for all our professionals

We are continuing to try and grow and improve the service across Lincolnshire and parts of Yorkshire and I want to thank all the team and associates with Complete Careers for their support and we will continue to work together to build a professional and impartial guidance service for students and schools.
